From the author of RFE/RL's "Tehran Diary":
"I have just come back from Azadi Avenue. I was badly beaten, there are bruises on my back, hands, and left leg, and I am limping a bit right now.
There are a couple of thousand Basiji/police from Enghelab Square all the way to Azadi Square. They were viciously attacking people. There is war in the streets.
I tried to save one young man and an elderly lady. The people were chanting 'bi gheirat' ('dishonored') at the police.
My right hand is hurting very much and I cannot type well, so sorry for the short info."
