Montenegro's parliament has voted to give Milo Djukanovic a seventh term as prime minister of the former Yugoslav republic.
A majority of 44 lawmakers in the 81-seat parliament on December 4 voted in favor of Djukanovic.
In an address before the vote, Djukanovic pledged to pay “special attention” to the fight against the corruption and organized crime that has thrived in the mountainous Adriatic state.
He promised to strengthen the rule of law and improve transparency to help the country overcome its economic doldrums and return to vigorous growth.
Djukanovic has served as prime minister or president for most of the past 20 years, helping guide Montenegro to independence from its union with Serbia in 2006.
Djukanovic’s coalition won the most votes in the October 14 elections but lost its parliament majority.
