BISHKEK -- A suspected Islamic militant was has been killed by Kyrgyz special forces in southern Kyrgyzstan, the fourth since June 27, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.
Osh regional police spokesman Junish Ashirbaev said that the man was caught near a forest in the Uzgen district, where he threw a grenade at the security forces in an attempt to escape.
One soldier was wounded by the blast, and the militant was shot dead.
Kyrgyz special forces killed three suspected militants, which they said were members of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, and arrested two others on late on June 27 in the same area near Uzgen.
The special forces are continuing their search of the area because they believe there is at least one more militant hiding in the forest.
