Kyrgyz Parliament Approves Cabinet Nominations

30 September 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Kyrgyzstan's parliament today approved six of President Kurmanbek Bakiev's nominations for remaining ministerial vacancies in the new cabinet.

The six candidates were Bakiev's second choices, which he offered after parliament rejected his earlier nominations.

Parliament also approved a presidential nomination for a nonministerial post in the cabinet.

The only seat still open in the cabinet is of first deputy prime minister. It remains unclear when Bakiev will make his nomination for that post.

Among the approvals today, parliamentarian Adakhan Madumarov was confirmed as a deputy prime minister. Alikbek Jekshenkulov was confirmed to head the Foreign Ministry.
