A suicide car bomber hit a petrol station on the outskirts of the northern Iraqi city of Samarra today, killing at least three people.
In Baghdad, a car bomb exploded as two armored cars passed by, killing four bystanders. The cars were reportedly transporting foreigners working for the U.S.-led coalition.
In Balad, 80 kilometers north of Baghdad, insurgents killed three Iraqi soldiers in an attack on a military vehicle.
One U.S. soldier was reported killed and two others injured when their vehicle hit an explosive device west of Baghdad. U.S. troops reportedly arrested six suspects in raids after the attack.
In the southern city of Al-Basrah, the bullet riddled body of Sunni Muslim Scholars Association Sheikh Nadir Jameel was found overnight. Jameel was kidnapped on 25 November.
Separately, several hundred Shi'ites demonstrated in Baghdad, calling for the execution of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Hussein's trial is due to resume on 28 November.
