Some 22 Killed When Russian Train Collides With Bus

13 January 2006 --- At least 22 people died when a microbus and a train collided in southern Russia today, local and international news agencies reported.

Reuters originally reported that 17 people had died, but newsru.com and dpa quoted a local official as confirming that 22 people had been killed in the crash.

ITAR-TASS and newsru.com report that those killed were workers and the driver of a microbus that was carrying factory employees home from work.

The accident reportedly occurred at an unmarked rail crossing in the Ust-Labinsky district of the southern Krasnodar region.

ITAR-TASS said five other people were injured in the crash, which involved a train traveling from the resort city of Mineralnye Vody to Krasnodar.
