Police and local officials said the gunmen roamed the town's Sunni neighborhoods overnight on March 27, shooting at residents and homes.
The Iraqi Army later moved in to stop the violence and placed a curfew on the entire town.
Officials described the attacks as a revenge spree for truck bombings that killed around 55 people in a Shi'ite district of the town on March 27.
In addition, bombings and shootings killed at least 12 people across Iraq today.
