Russia says one of its warplanes has crashed while on a training exercise in the southern region of Stavropol and the pilot was killed.
The Defense Ministry said the Su-25 ground attack aircraft went down on February 29 in an uninhabited area, causing no casualties or damage on the ground.
It said the flight was conducted without the ammunition load.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The Su-25 is one of the aircraft that the Russian military has deployed in Syria to provide air support for forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.
