MONDAY, May 30:

Azerbaijan: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov pays a working visit to the United States.

Georgia: President of the Swiss Confederation Micheline Calmy-Rey visits Tbilisi.

Russia/Tatarstan: International Theatre Festival "Nawruz" opens in Kazan (to June 3).

Tajikistan: Member of the European Parliament Struan Stevenson visits Dushanbe (to May 31).

Turkmenistan: Turkish President Abdullah Gul makes a working visit to Turkmenistan.

Ukraine: Foreign ministers of Greece and Serbia to visit Ukraine (to May 31).


TUESDAY, May 31:

Armenia: Opposition Armenian National Congress is scheduled to hold a rally in Yerevan.

Azerbaijan: UNESCO International Bioethics Committee meets in Baku to address ethical challenges (to June 2).

Belarus: Minsk hosts a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Russia: The Russian opposition holds its regular Strategy 31 rally in Moscow and other cities.

Ukraine: The Wilson Center holds a discussion titled "Ukraine After One Year Of Yanukovych."

UN: World No Tobacco Day.


WEDNESDAY, June 1:

Iran: The Wilson Center holds a discussion titled "Words, Not Swords: Iranian Women Writers And The Freedom Of Movement."

Russia: The Heritage Foundation in Washington hosts a discussion on cyberspace and civil liberties in Russia.

Russia/Italy: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visits Rome to take part in the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Italy’s unification as a single state.

Ukraine: Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to hold Council of Regions meeting in Crimea.

Uzbekistan: OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis visits Uzbekistan.

World: International Children's Day.


THURSDAY, June 2:

Georgia: Funeral of Abkhaz leader Sergei Bagapsh, who had led the Georgian breakaway region since 2005, is scheduled in the village of Dzhgerda, Ochamchira district.

Turkmenistan: OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis visits Turkmenistan.

World: Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) hosts a discussion titled "No Freedom Without Media Freedom."


SATURDAY, June 4:

Azerbaijan: Warsaw hosts Azerbaijan-Poland business forum (to June 12).

Croatia: Pope Benedict XVI to conduct a service in Zagreb.

UN: International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression.


SUNDAY, June 5:

Macedonia: Parliamentary elections.

Moldova: Local elections.
