At least 15,000 supporters of the Communist Party in Moldova demonstrated today demanding the resignation of the government.

The protesters marched through the streets of the capital Chisinau to vent frustration at the ruling Alliance for European Integration that the Communists feel is too pro-Western.

A senior official in Moldova's Communist Party, Lurie Muntean, said "the country is run from Brussels, the U.S. and Bucharest."

The pro-European government has been in power since 2009 when it defeated the Communists in elections.

The country's 120-seat parliament is due to hold presidential elections on December 16.
