Addressing the UN General Assembly, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said Pakistan needs to show more "seriousness" to resume dialogue between the two neighbors.

Modi said in his speech on September 27 that he wants to hold bilateral talks with Islamabad "without a shadow of terrorism."

In his speech before the General Assembly on September 25, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif criticized India for withdrawing from planned peace talks last month over the disputed region of Kashmir.

Sharif traveled to India in May for Modi's inauguration, raising hopes of progress in the decades-old dispute.

India withdrew from planned peace talks in August because of plans by Islamabad to consult Kashmiri separatists ahead of the meeting.

New Delhi says Pakistan supports separatist militants attacking Indian forces.
