Interpol has issued a "red notice" for the arrest of Libya's Muammar Qaddafi, his son Saif al-Islam, and intellligence chief Abdullah al-Senussi.

The world police body said today it was asking its 188 members to help locate and apprehend the three men at the request of the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.

The ICC issued arrest warrants in June for all three for alleged crimes against humanity.

Qaddafi's whereabouts remain unknown as Libya's new authorities seek to establish control over the last remaining strongholds of Qaddafi loyalists in Libya.

In an audio message to a Syria-based TV channel on September 8, he dismissed reports he had fled to neighbouring Niger as "lies."
