At least 24 people died in one of Baghdad’s main Shi’ite neighborhoods on October 3 after suicide bombers tried to breach a check-point.
The attack which injured at least 61 people took place at a checkpoint at Adan Square in the Kadhimiyah neighbourhood.
Baghdad Operations Command spokesman Saad Maan said that security forces shot one of the three attackers while the other two blew themselves up.
One of the explosions was caused by a suicide car bomb according to a police colonel.
The Islamic State (IS) group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, according to a monitoring group that tracks IS militants.
IS frequently targets Iraqi security forces and Iraq’s Shi’ite community.
