Two suicide bombers have targeted protesters north of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, killing at least eight people and wounding dozens of others.
Officials said the attackers blew themselves up on June 25 near a group Turkomans protesting poor security in the ethnically-mixed town of Tuz Khurmatu, which is regularly hit by attacks.
The dead reportedly included a former deputy provincial governor and his two sons. The bombers targeted protesters by tents that they had set up.
The town is located some 175 kilometers north of Baghdad in a band of territory contested by Arabs, Kurds, and Turkomans.
In January, more than 20 people were reported killed by a suicide bomber at a Shi’ite mosque in Tuz Khurmatu.
