ALMATY, Kazakhstan -- Firefighters have extinguished a massive fire at the Kazakh National Arts Academy in Almaty.
The four-story academy building in central Almaty was evacuated and rare paintings and furniture were removed from the building.
One student was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
No reports were available on damage to the building or its contents.
Some 70 firefighters from 12 firefighting brigades took part in extinguishing the blaze.
The fire broke out on the roof of the building around 2 p.m. local time and was extinguished about two hours later.
The cause remains unclear.
