Moscow authorities have granted permission for a gathering to remember slain journalist Anna Politkovskaya but at a different location than the site organizers wanted.
Moscow's Department of Safety said on October 4 that the memorial gathering was approved for Novopushkinskaya Square on October 7 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. local time.
The approval specified up to 200 people could attend.
Organizers had originally requested holding the event on Pushkinskaya Square in the center of Moscow.
But the department said Pushinskaya Square was "occupied" on that date at that time.
Independent journalist Anna Politkovskaya was killed on October 7, 2006 inside her apartment building after publishing articles critical of Russian military actions in Chechnya.
Her killing remains unsolved.
Nonetheless, Russian officials say their investigation is continuing.
Six suspects have been detained in the case.
