Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel and Russia "agreed on a mechanism” to prevent “misunderstandings” between the two countries' military forces in Syria.
Netanyahu made the comments to reporters on September 21 after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin outside Moscow.
There was no immediate comment from the Kremlin.
In earlier remarks as he welcomed Netanyahu, Putin said Russian actions in the Middle East would always be "responsible."
Netanyahu was accompanied by his army and intelligence chiefs, underlining the importance of the visit.
Israel is reportedly concerned that Russia's involvement in the fighting between Islamic rebel groups and Syrian forces could result in fire accidentally being exchanged with Russian forces.
Israel has carried out raids in against militants in southern Syria and wants to ensure Lebanon's Hizballah Islamist group is not armed as Russia arms Syria.
