A Warsaw court has given a suspended jail term to a former Polish security officer over the 2010 air crash that killed President Lech Kaczynski and 95 other people.
Former deputy head of government security General Pawel Bielawny was found guilty on June 21 of negligence in connection with the flight.
He received an 18-month suspended sentence, a five-year ban from public office, and a $2,600 fine.
On April 10, 2010, 96 Poles were killed when the Tupolev plane they were travelling in crashed near the western Russian city of Smolensk.
President Kaczynski and other top Polish officials were among the dead.
They were on their way to a ceremony to commemorate the 1940 Katyn massacre, when the Soviet Union's secret police killed thousands of Polish officers.
Investigations have blamed the weather conditions and poorly-trained pilots for the tragedy.
