An Mi-8 helicopter belonging to Russia's Border Service has crashed in the North Caucasus republic of Chechnya, killing three of the four people on board.
A spokesman for the prosecutor's office of Russia's Southern Military District said the helicopter crashed and burst into flames while attempting to land in poor weather at Chechnya's Khankala military airfield.
The fourth passenger has been hospitalized.
Prosecutors have opened an investigation into the crash and are trying to determine whether the incident was caused by equipment failure or violations of flight-safety rules.
