Russia and China have reportedly signed a deal for Beijing to buy 24 Su-35 fighter jets.
"We have signed the contract," Sergei Chemezov, director-general of the state-run technology giant Rostec, was quoted as saying on November 19.
Chemezov added that the deal, said to be worth more than $2 billion, makes China the first foreign buyer of the Su-35, one of Russia's most advanced military aircraft.
Russia was in 2014 the second-largest arms exporter in the world after the United States.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on November 19 that the country earns more than $15 billion a year from arms exports.
State-owned arms exporter Rosoboronexport says it currently holds export contracts worth $48 billion.
Rosoboroneksport Director-General Anatoly Isyakin said last month that the company had supplied $115 billion worth of arms to 116 countries over the last 15 years.
