Russian authorities have launched investigations into what they say were threats made against Russian officials by alleged Ukrainian radicals.

Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said on March 7 that governors of four Russian regions -- Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk, and Voronezh -- received threats made by e-mail from individuals representing a Ukrainian nationalist group called Holy Brotherhood Black Cross.

The e-mails demanded from the governors condemn Russia's involvement in Ukraine or resign.

According to Markin, the authors of the messages threatened to kill the governors and organize terrorist acts in those Russian regions unless their demands were met.

Markin also said an international arrest warrant has been issued for Ukrainian nationalist Oleksandr Muzychko.

Markin said Muzychko is wanted for allegedly torturing and killing Russian federal military personnel during the war against Chechen separatists in 1994 and 1995.
