Video Suggests Syria Motive In Moscow Child Murder, Beheading

An Uzbek woman accused of murdering and decapitating a 4-year-old girl in Moscow has said that she had acted to avenge Muslims killed in Russia’s bombing campaign in Syria.

Gulchekhra Bobokulova made the comments in video footage posted online March 3 and which appeared to show police interrogating the suspect.

Bobokulova was detained February 29 after she was seen waving the child’s severed head outside a Moscow metro station.

Speaking to reporters on her way into a courtroom on March 2, Bobokulova said that “Allah ordered” her to carry out the grisly act.

She also said she accepted guilt for the murder of the Russian child she had been hired to babysit.

The court ruled later that Bobokulova be held in custody for two months as a restrictive measure.

Authorities have said she suffers from mental health problems and will undergo psychiatric evaluation.
