Russian President Vladimir Putin, addressing the annual Victory Day military parade on Moscow's Red Square, vowed Russia will do "everything in its power so that no one will ever dare unleash a new war."
Putin oversaw the commemoration of the anniversary of the May 9, 1945, allied victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, known as the Great Patriotic War in Russia.
"We will always remember that it was Russia -- the Soviet Union -- that ruined the inhumane, bloody, arrogant plans of the Nazis and did not allow the fascists to conquer the world," Putin said.
Tanks and missiles rolled across Red Square and thousands of troops marched in formation during the televised event.
