Several people were injured in clashes that erupted after activists of Georgia's ruling party rallied outside the local office of the opposition United National Movement (ENM) in the western city of Zugdidi.
Dozens of Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia (KODS) supporters demonstrated outside the ENM office in Zugdidi on March 15, protesting its plans to rally in Tbilisi on March 21.
Clashes broke out after the pro-government activists, some of them with sticks, shattered the doors and rushed into the ENM headquarters.
At least one police officer was among the injured.
The ENM lawmakers condemned the clashes and reiterated their intention to rally in the capital on March 21.
The KODS issued a statement saying that the incident had been provoked by the ENM and calling on its supporters "to avoid such provocations."
