Search teams in northeastern Siberia have found four people alive at the site where a Mi-8 helicopter crashed on July 2.

Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry said on July 3 that four people -- three crew members and a child passenger -- survived the crash.

Twenty-four other people aboard the helicopter, 10 of them children, perished.

Yakutia is an enormous but sparsely populated area in the far northern reaches of Siberia and helicopters are often used to transport people between towns and villages.
