A Russian space capsule carrying two Russians and an American has touched down safely on the steppes of Kazakhstan.

The Soyuz TMA-22 spacecraft landed on April 27 on schedule, less than four hours after undocking from the International Space Station.

The crew, comprised of Anton Shkaplerov and Anatoly Ivanishin and NASA's Daniel Burbank, returned to Earth after spending more than 160 days in orbit.

Three other members of the space station crew remain in orbit. They will be joined by three other astronauts in mid-May.
