A native of Tajikistan has been detained in Moscow on suspicion of creating a website promoting the militant group Islamic State.
The man, whose name was not made public, was detained in northwestern Moscow on February 25.
Russian media reports cited police sources as saying he is suspected of posting messages and videos depicting the activities of Islamic State militants, who have murdered or abused thousands of people during an offensive that began in Iraq and Syria last year, and of calling for terrorism.
Authorities in Russia and former Soviet republics in Central Asia and the Caucasus have said that hundreds of their citizens are fighting in Syria and Iraq alongside Islamist militants including Islamic State fighters.
The extremist group Islamic State is officially recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia.
