A train belonging to the Tajik state railway company has derailed in Uzbekistan's southwestern Jizzakh Province, injuring dozens.
Tajikistan's Defense Ministry says the train was transporting 200 army conscripts from the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, to Tajikistan's northern Sughd Province on October 10.
Trains traveling to Sughd have to cross the territory of neighboring Uzbekistan.
Five train cars derailed. According to the Tajik Defense Ministry, 33 conscripts were injured, with some of them suffering hand and leg fractures.
The Tajik state railway company put the number of injured at only 12, including the conductor.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
Passengers not injured in the accident have been temporarily housed in two local wedding halls.
