El-Baradei said he hopes Iran "will go back to the full suspension they have committed themselves to." He made his comments on his way to Moscow for a four-day visit.
A letter from Iran to the IAEA informed the agency that Tehran would resume centrifuge activities next week.
Centrifuges are used to purify uranium to make it usable as fuel for nuclear-power plants or for weapons.
