Oitalbek Osmonov, a spokesman for Kyrgyzstan's National Security Service, told RFE/RL that the men killed were terrorists from a number of banned groups, including the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and Hizb ut-Tahrir.
He said they had been involved in "several prominent terrorist attacks."
Osmonov said the victims had been planning further terrorist attacks in Kyrgyzstan.
