Liberal Party To Pull Out Of Serbian Coalition

(RFE/RL) September 28, 2006 -- A Serbian reformist party says it will withdraw from the country's coalition government.

Mladjan Dinkic, head of the liberal G17 Plus party, today said his cabinet members will submit their resignations on September 29.

Dinkic said the decision is prompted by the government's failure to catch war crimes suspect Ratko Mladic and resume pre-membership talks with the European Union.

The pullout could force an early election.

Dinkic said he hopes the GI7 Plus resignations will not destabilize Serbia, and that the move will lead to a resumption of talks with the EU.

The EU has said Mladic's capture is essential to the resumption of the talks.
