(RFE/RL) November 9, 2006 -- The transportation ministers of Kazakhstan and Russia today signed an agreement to establish a train and ferry link between the Caspian Sea port of Aqtau and Makhachkala, the capital of the Northern Caucasian Russian republic of Daghestan.
The deal was signed in Aqtau, from where a first ferry carrying 52 freight cars loaded with grain and oil products is due to leave on November 10.
