Three Charged Over Deadly Kazakh Mine Blast


(RFE/RL) October 9, 2006 -- Reports from Kazakhstan say three people face criminal charges in connection with the underground gas blast that killed 41 coal miners on September 20.


The three Mittal Steel Temirtau employees are accused of violating safety regulations and manslaugher.


The accident prompted all Mittal Steel Temirtau miners and steel workers to go on strike and demand better working conditions and higher wages.
