Moscow, 20 February 1997 (RFE/RL) -- Kazakhstan's defense minister, General Muhtar Altynbayev, is in Moscow for a four-day visit that began February 18.
He accompanied Kazakh Foreign Minister Kasymzhomart Tokayev to the Russian capital at the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Igor Rodionov. Altynbayev and Rodionov discussed military cooperation between the two countries. General Altynbayev also expects to meet Russian General Staff members.
Tokayev has completed his visit to Russia and gone on to China. Before coming to Moscow, he visited Ukraine.
