Belarus has banned citizens facing "political charges," top officials, and law enforcement officers from traveling abroad. The law, made public on May 16, applies to top officials and law enforcement officers immediately, and for those facing charges of disobeying police orders, violation of regulations of holding of public events, and other similar offenses will take force in December. The law also bans persons whose travel abroad "contradicts the country's national security" from leaving Belarus. The details of that category were not immediately available.
