Sarajevo Pays Respect To 175 Srebrenica Victims

Hundreds of people lined the main street of Sarajevo on July 9 to pay respects as coffins carrying the remains of 175 victims of the Srebrenica massacre were transported past.

The victims are to be buried on July 11 -- the 19th anniversary of the massacre -- at the Potocari cemetery near Srebrenica.

The youngest victim to be buried was 14 years old when he was killed.

Around 8,000 Muslim men and boys were massacred in Srebrenica after the town was seized by Bosnian Serb a few months before the end of Bosnia's 1992-1995 war.

It was the worst atrocity in Europe since World War II.

So far, the remains of 6,066 people have been exhumed from mass graves and reburied in the Potocari cemetery.
