Authorities say seven militants have been killed in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Daghestan and one in Kabardino-Balkaria.
Russia's Antiterrorist Committee said that security forces had killed four militants in an antiterrorist operation near the central town of Gubden overnight.
Three alleged terroritsts were killed in another antiterrorist operation near the village of Shamkhal-Yangiyurt, 40 kilometers north of Daghestan's capital, Makhachkala.
Officials in Kabardino-Balkaria, another Russian republic in the North Caucasus, said that a militant was killed near the village of Islamei on May 8.
Daghestan and Kabardino-Balkaria, along with Russia's other volatile North Caucasus republics such as Ingushetia and Chechnya, continue to experience violence linked to Islamic extremists and organized criminal groups.
