Crimean Tatars: We Don't Want To Join A Police State
Crimean Tatars of the city of Bakhchysaray in Crimea told RFE/RL's Tatar-Baskhir Service they were boycotting an upcoming referendum on the regional parliament's decision to join Russia. Residents said they didn't want Crimea to be part of a "police state" and recalled the forced deportation of most Crimean Tatars by Soviet authorities during World War II.
