The lawyer for jailed Ukrainian ex-interior minister Yuriy Lutsenko says he will lodge an appeal with a higher court against a decision upholding the verdict that sent Lutsenko to prison for four years.
On May 16, the Kyiv Appellate Court upheld the verdict against Lutskenko.
Afterward, lawyer Ihor Fomin vowed to take the case to the next level, the Specialized High Court for Civil and Criminal Cases.
Lutsenko was convicted and sentenced to four years in February for embezzlement and abuse of office.
Lutsenko maintains that he and jailed former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko are both victims of political persecution by the government of their rival, President Viktor Yanukovych.
Tymoshenko was convicted in October of abusing her powers in signing a gas deal with Russia.
