Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has assured visiting EU enlargement commissioner Stefan Fuele that his country will work hard to remove all obstacles for signing an EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
Yanukovych made the pledge during a meeting with Fuele in Kyiv on February 8.
The Association Agreement would include the creation of a free trade area.
Fuele said Ukraine has to fulfill all of the EU's conditions before agreements could be signed during the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius in November.
The issues the EU wants Kyiv to address are connected with the elimination of selective justice, the improvement of election legislation, and the implementation of other reforms.
Fuele stated earlier on February 7 that if Kyiv joins the Customs Union consisting of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, it could make Ukraine's economic integration with the European Union impossible.
