Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for her work championing education rights for all children, has been awarded another prestigious honor.
The World's Children's Prize -- dubbed by media as the "Children's Nobel Prize" -- is based on a global vote involving millions of children.
The 17-year-old Malala is the youngest Nobel laureate in history and the only person to also win the World's Children's Prize in the same year.
She will receive the children's award near Stockholm, Sweden, on October 29.
Malala was shot in the head in 2012 by the Taliban near her home in Pakistan’s Swat Valley for advocating the right of all children -- including girls -- to go to school.
The World's Children’s Prize was created in 2000 as part of a worldwide program where children learn about global issues, democracy, and their own rights.
Previous recipients include Nelson Mandela, Anne Frank, and Kofi Annan.
