Fighting between Iraqi security forces and Al-Qaeda-linked insurgents in western Anbar Province has left at least 22 dead.
The clashes on June 1 in and around Fallujah also injured 36 people, according to Ahmad al-Shami of Fallujah General Hospital.
Fallujah, which is 70 kilometers from Baghdad, has been controlled by Islamic militants and antigovernment tribal members for more than five months.
Tribal leader Mahmud al-Zobaie said several neighborhoods of Fallujah were shelled during fighting.

In the nearby city of Ramadi, a female student at Ramadi University was killed by a stray bullet while studying. Another student was injured, RFI reported.
