U.S. special forces raided the Abbottabad, Pakistan, hideout of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in May 2011.
The U.S. Navy SEAL who claims to have killed Osama bin Laden has given an interview in which he recounts shooting the Al-Qaeda leader in Pakistan in May 2011.

The interview -- published on February 11 by “Esquire” magazine -- did not reveal the name of the soldier but said he had served with the U.S. Navy for 16 years.

In the interview, the soldier talks about how he and the SEAL team moved through bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, before he encountered the Al-Qaeda chief and fired three shots into his head.

The soldier says he is now worried that his wife and children could be targeted by Al-Qaeda supporters seeking revenge.

He also says he is now facing financial concerns as an unemployed U.S. civilian without a full pension or health insurance.
