24 September 2005 -- The Russian republic of Daghestan is reportedly without gas today after an attack on a gas pipeline.
News agencies report that gas shipments to neighboring Azerbaijan were also disrupted after the attack near the town
of Pokrovskoye in the Khasavyurt region late yesterday.
Officials with the gas company Kaspyigazprom, the Emergency Ministry, as well as police are reportedly
investigating the blast.
Daghestan, which borders restive Chechnya, has been the site of frequent militant attacks.
