Four Top Al-Qaeda Members Killed In Saudi Arabia

Site of the 27 February shootout in which five alleged members of the Al-Qaeda network were killed (epa) 28 February 2006 -- Saudi Arabia today said that four out of the five militants killed by security forces on 27 February featured on a list of the most wanted Al-Qaeda-linked suspects.

The Saudi Interior Ministry named one of those killed as Fahd bin Faraj al-Joweir, whom it views as the leader of the Al-Qaeda network in the country.

The ministry said in a statement issued on 28 February that al-Joweir and another of the killed militants had participated in last week's foiled attack on the world's biggest oil-processing plant, at Abqaiq in the eastern part of the country.
