March 1, 2006 -- Reports say Kosovar Prime Minister Bajram Kosumi unexpectedly announced his resignation today, after coming under pressure from his own Democratic League of Kosova party.
Western news agencies report that Agim Ceku, the commander of the province's fledgling army and a former rebel commander, was expected to be named as Kosumi's successor.
Kosova, which is formally a province of Serbia but has been under a UN-led administration since 1999, is in the midst of talks on its future status with Belgrade.
