Kyrgyzstan has recently been criticized by human rights activists for the decision of Kyrgyz courts to deny refugee status to four Uzbeks who fled a military crackdown by the Uzbek government in May 2005.
In meetings with leaders of nongovernmental organizations, the OSCE's secretary-general, Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, reportedly also discussed constitutional reforms and the human rights situation in the country.
De Brichambaut is due to hold talks with President Kurmanbek Bakiev later on March 3.
In other news, Bakiev said on March 1 that he will soon decree March 24 to be a national holiday to mark the March 2005 revolution that toppled the former government.
