March 5, 2006 -- A Canadian soldier has died of injuries received when an armored vehicle overturned in southern Afghanistan. Another remains in a serious condition after an ax attack.
A Canadian military spokesman said Master Corporal Timothy Wilson died on March 5 at a U.S. military hospital in Germany. Another Canadian soldier was killed in the accident, which occurred in Kandahar Province.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Trevor Greene was in a serious condition after he was struck on the head with an ax during a meeting with tribal elders in Kandahar Province on March 4. He is to be flown to Germany for treatment.
The spokesman said the assailant was killed but could not be identified.
On March 3, five Canadian soldiers were wounded in a suspected suicide car bombing in the province.
