March 12, 2006 -- An Iraqi militant group affiliated with Al-Qaeda today claimed responsibility for the killing of a senior editor at Iraqi state television.
The military wing of the Mujahedin Council, in a message posted on the Internet, said it killed journalist Amjad Hamid
The group said Hamid's killing was justified because he worked for a television station the group called a "mouthpiece of the apostate government."
Hamid, a father of three, had just left his house in central Baghdad on March 11 when he was shot in the head and killed.
