May 17, 2006 -- A girls school was set ablaze in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan Province overnight, making it the third such reported attack in the country in two days.
There were no reported injuries in the fire bombing attack on the night of May 16-17.
On May 15, a girls school was torched in northern Balkh Province, causing some injuries.
A similar attack on a girls school was reported in central Wardak Province, also on May 15. No injuries were reported in that incident.
These are the latest in a series of attacks on schools and other educational institutions in Afghanistan. Such attacks have been blamed on the Taliban, which banned girls from school during its rule.
